VIGILS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO HONOR FALLEN SOLIDERS

It’s Still the F-Word

Why claiming feminism feels like saying “fuck” in front of your grandma

I can’t say I have a single female friend who doesn’t think that both sexes should be treated equally.

So why do these same women cringe at the word "feminist"?

End the War Vigil

Here is the link to register for the vigil that we began planning at our meeting on August 7th. Registering now will help us to work together to make this an inspiring and meaningful event. Thank you for your willingness to lend your talents, and let me know if you have suggestions or questions!

We're holding a vigil and/or a townhall meeting locally with MoveOn.org and Iraq Summer to tell Congress to stand up and end the War in Iraq.

I'd love it if you would come!

The event details are:

Vigil:Take a Stand, End the War
The Sample Gates, IU campus

I have been called a conspiracy theorist on occasion. The difference between theory and reality is proof. There are conspiracy theorists and conspiracy realists. I am a conspiracy realist.

INDIANAPOLIS INDEPENDENT CULTURE VENUE CLOSES, MOVE TO NEW LOCATION UNCERTAIN

Idianapolis's Corner Coffee Cafe, a significant venue for independent culture here, colsed on Saturday, July 28. It hopes to reopen, but so far has not found a new location to replace the one it left at 251 E. 11th Street, on the edge of downtown. It does hope to find another downtown location, but as co-owner Cheri Spicer (who owns it with husband David) noted, the couple would have to build out, and that would require an investment of $3,000. "I'm not giving up on this city," she said, "but it's really hard to make it when you're just an independent."

"YOU'RE A HOOZHAH!" A RAP SONG

Hi all!

I'm a new blogger here, encouraged to become so by Bloomington Alternative Editor Stephen Higgs. I'm also an iconoclastic writer now living in Indianapolis, an IU-Bloomington grad, and just born hell-raiser. Here's my first submission, a little rap song I created on the downside of Hoosierdom. I'd be very interested in puting this song to music, even getting it recorded--GF

YOU’RE A HOOZHAH! (HOOSIER)
A RAP SONG

You’re a Hoohzah!

You’re a Hoozhah!
a Hoozhah!

Global Locale~Planetary Crisis & the Culture War

That instituions & societies are often slow to accept new ideas & are even slower to actually change their practices & lifestyles is not surprising & somewhat understandable.

But we are in a particularly different situation now & stand at a crossroads more pivotal than previous epochs. The problem at present isn't so much a lack of knowledge of how to address the pressing environmental & social justice issues of our time, but a lack of will.

The Hustle, the levy, American Pie

The past few weeks have been very busy for Monroe County Council. Pin-the-tail has several blog entries related to ramping up to the Annual Budget Session in August------sessions where Monroe County citizens' elected officeholders to the fiscal body of County Government, the County Council, set the budget for 2008. That county budget is set upon your tax dollars...
